Clinical Application

l         Since 1988, when it was approved by the Ministry of Health as a new drug, there are more than 5,000 hospitals in China using MEBT/MEBO as standard of burns and scalds treatment to treat severe burns patients.

l         Of the approximately 350,000 burns patients treated each year using MEBO, the cure rate is 99.86% for TBSA<50% burns and 91.33% for TBSA>50% burns. The mortality rate for extraordinary severe burns is only about 6.99%.

l         More than 1700 published papers record about 290,000 burn patients, mostly are 2^nd and 3^rd degree burns, and 700 papers about over 80 kinds of wounds, ulcers and skin defect diseases with treatment of MEBT/MEBO.

l         According to the report from CBAIM, compared with SD-Ag, MEBT/MEBO in treating burns has following advantages,

l         Superficial II degree burns: MEBO shortens the healing time; the average healing time was around 9 days; and, no scar formation

l         Deep II degree burns: MEBO shortens the healing time; the average healing time is around 20 days; and, compared with SD-Ag, the rate of scar formation and skin-grafting is obvious lower.

l         III degree burns: Compared with SD-Ag, the rate of scar formation and skin-grafting reduces at least 60% (SD-Ag Group is 63.3%, while MEBO Group is 20.4%)

l         Wound infection: MEBO reduces the rate of wound infection more than 50% (SD-Ag Group is 39.4%, while MEBO Group is 15.9%)

l         Pain relief: There are 56.2% of the patients in MEBO Group feeling that the effect of pain relief is good, while 6.9% in SD-Ag Group.

l         Toxicity effects: no toxicity to liver and kidney is reported
